56 MALEZYA, PANDEMI SONRASI İÇIN EKONOMIDE DIJITALLEŞMEYE ODAKLANIYOR Asya’ya açılan kapı olarak kabul edilen Malezya, bölge ülkelerine erişim için Türk iş insanları tarafından üretim ve lojistik üssü olarak değerlendirilebilir Malaysia, which is the gateway to Asia, can be considered as a production and logistics hub by Turkish businesspeople for access to countries in the region MALAYSIA FOCUSES ON DIGITALISATION IN POST-PANDEMIC ECONOMY SALGIN DÖNEMINDE MALEZYA EKONOMISI Yeni tip koronavirüs (COVID-19) salgını, tüm dünyada olduğu gibi Malezya’daki sosyoekonomik durumu da ol- dukça kötü etkiledi. Öyle ki Malezya, 1998’de yaşanan Asya Krizi’nden bu yana en büyük ekonomik daralma ile karşılaştı. Malezya’da işsizlik oranı 2009 küresel finans krizinde yüzde 3,7 iken 2020’de pandeminin etkisiyle yüzde 4,5’e yükseldi. Son 10 yılda ortalama yüzde 5,3 oranında büyüyenMalezya, 2020 sonu itibarıyla yüzde 5,6 daraldı. Pandeminin en yo- ğun etkisi, sanayi ve işletmelerin faaliyetlerininkısıtlandığı 2020 yılının ikinci çeyreğinde görüldü. Bu dönemde ülke yüzde 17,1 küçüldü. Öte yandan Dünya Bankası tahmin- lerine göre Malezya’nın, 2021 yılında yüzde 6 oranında büyümesi öngörülüyor. THE MALAYSIAN ECONOMY AMID THE PANDEMIC The new outbreak of coronavirus (COVID-19) has had a severe impact on the socio-economic situation in Malay- sia, as with the rest of theworld. In fact, during this period, Malaysia has experienced one of the largest economic recessions since the Asian Crisis in 1998. While unem- ployment rates in the country were around 3.7% during the 2009 global financial crisis, this number rose to 4.5% in 2020 due to the pandemic. Malaysia, whichgrewby 5.3%onaverage in the last 10 years, contracted 5.6% as of the end of 2020. During the second quarter of 2020, the most vicious impact of the pandemic was witnessed when industrial and business operations were curtailed. During this period, the country downsized by 17.1%. On the other hand, however, according to theWorld Bank, Malaysia is projected to grow by 6% in 2021.
